Samantha of FoxFire
I am the breeder and founder behind FoxFire Beagles. From a very young age, I knew that breeding dogs was not simply an interest, but a lifelong goal. When I eventually entered the world of purebred dogs, it quickly became clear that this path was more than a pursuit, it was a true passion and purpose.

My dedication extends beyond Beagles themselves to educating the public on the importance of ethical breeding and the preservation of purebred dogs. I devote countless hours to research, continued learning, sharing educational content, and raising my own hounds. Beagles are at the heart of everything I do, and I find deep fulfillment not only in breeding, raising, and competing with them, but also in sharing my knowledge and experiences with others.

I am incredibly grateful to spend my daily life alongside these wonderful hounds and to place them with thoughtful families around the world. Every puppy bred under the FoxFire name remains a lifelong commitment to me. From the moment they are whelped through their senior years, each FoxFire Beagle is part of my extended family. I truly feel fortunate to do what I love every day.
The 'Fox' in FoxFire
In 2015, I welcomed my first Beagle from Windkist Beagles in Utah and affectionately named him “Fox.” A true firecracker from the very beginning, Fox had a talent for getting into just about everything and quickly established himself as a mischievous force of nature. More importantly, he ignited my deep love for the breed and secured a permanent place in my heart.

Although Fox was never destined to be the show dog I initially imagined, we did (and still do) just about everything else together. From rally, obedience, and agility to barn hunt and scent detection, there is very little this determined tricolour Beagle hasn’t tried. Through him, I learned invaluable lessons - how to embrace the breed’s clever mischief, the importance of patience, and what it truly means to be a good sport and competitor both inside and outside the ring.

Fox was neutered at two years of age, and while he would never be directly included in my breeding program, his influence on it is undeniable. It was because of him that FoxFire Beagles was born - a kennel named in honor of a fiery, hilarious little hound with an unmatched zest for life (and snacks).

Above all, Fox taught me one of the most important lessons about living with this breed: always keep your sense of humour.

Our Breeding Philosophy

Bred With Purpose
At FoxFire Beagles, my goal is to produce sound Beagles of correct type, gentle expression, and effortless movement, paired with stable, confident temperaments. Whether a puppy’s future is in the performance ring, the show ring, or as a beloved family companion, each is bred with intention, care, and respect for the breed.

Beagles are not a business to me, they are my passion and the heart of my home. Every puppy I produce is a lifelong responsibility, and my commitment to them extends well beyond placement. I expect every FoxFire puppy to be cherished and cared for at a level equal to, or greater than, the care they receive with me.

Our Purpose & Long-Term Vision
My long-term vision is centered on preservation by protecting the Beagle as we know and love it for generations to come. As a preservation breeder, I strive to remove uncertainty by producing thoughtfully bred dogs with predictable health, temperament, size, and longevity.

I stand behind every Beagle I bring into the world for its entire lifetime. Any FoxFire dog is always welcome back with me, for any reason, at any time. I also believe strongly in education and mentorship, and I am always happy to support and guide my puppy owners as they navigate life with their Beagle.

Everything I do is rooted in preserving the breed’s original purpose and function producing Beagles that are healthy, mentally sound, structurally correct, and true to the standard in both form and instinct.

Our Core Commitments
Early Development & Care
Every puppy is raised in my home with hands-on care and attention from birth. I follow Puppy Culture and AviDog principles, incorporating Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI), and enrichment exercises throughout their time with me.

Health & Research First
All breeding stock — whether my own or outside stud dogs are extensively health tested. Pedigrees are carefully researched and thoughtfully selected before any breeding takes place.

Breed Type & Temperament
We strive to produce correct, beautiful examples of the breed, with temperament as a top priority. All breeding decisions are guided by the Beagle Club of Canada breed standard.
Responsible Placement
I carefully screen prospective homes and place puppies only where I believe they will receive the love, care, and lifelong commitment they deserve.

Lifetime Support
I remain a resource, mentor, and support system for my puppy owners throughout the entire lifetime of their dog.

Pride
The confidence that comes from knowing your dog has a clear history, thoughtful planning, and a legacy rooted in purpose
Predictability
Understanding a dog’s temperament, instincts, and tendencies because they are intentionally bred to a defined standard.
Purpose
Honouring the Beagle’s original role through sound structure, natural instinct, and functional ability, not just appearance.
Preservation
Protecting the future of the breed by breeding responsibly, ethically, and with respect for what makes Beagles Beagles.
Supporting reputable breeders helps preserve our favourite breeds and ensures they remain healthy, capable, and true to their purpose for generations to come.
